Brown banded cockroach


Adults are around 1/2 inch long, light brown, with fully developed wings. female wings do not cover the entire body. Both adults, and nymphs can be distinguished by the two broad brownish tan stripes that go across the body at the base of the abdomen and at the mid abdomen area. Adult males can fly when they feel threatened. 


​Brown banded cockroaches prefer warm dry places. They are like other roach species with their diet. They will eat non food products such as nylon stockings, skin flakes, and glue.

Oriental cockroach


Adults are 1 to 1 1/4 inches long. females have very short useless wings and males have wings covering 3/4 of their body and are unable to fly as well. They are dark brown to almost black in color and have a shiny wet look.


​Oriental roaches love decaying plant material, meat, starch and water. Oriental roaches are nocturnal. They like cool, moist areas. Often found in sewers they are often called water bugs and sewer roaches. For the most part they like life outdoors but will travel up through sewer pipes and find their way into garages.

​German cockroach


​Adults are 1/2 to 5/8 inches long. Adults have wings. Nymphs do not have wings. The wings are equal length to the body. Adult females tend to be darker than males. One key feature to look for is 2 dark parallel stripes running down the back of the head. Roaches are flat and oval shaped. They have long antennae and 6 legs.


​German roaches will eat just about anything. Meat, grease and starches are their favorite choice ,however they also eat wallpaper paste, glues and candy.

German roaches are nocturnal. If you see them during the day that usually means the infestation is severe enough to force them out of hiding due to lack of space.

​They prefer warm humid areas. This is why it's more common to find them in kitchens and bathrooms.

Health concerns

​Cockroaches are known to contribute to several health issues including: food poisoning, asthma, allergies, dysentery, bowel issues, and respiratory issues.

American cockroach


​This roach is one of the largest roaches in the Albuquerque and Rio Rancho area. Adults can reach 1 1/2 to 2 inches in size. They are a reddish brown color and have a tan to yellow shield around the head. Both male and females have wings covering entire body and can fly.  


​American cockroaches like warm moist areas. Often times you can find these in flower beds or in tree areas under mulch and wood piles. They will travel indoors to find food. They will eat everything from human food, pet food, decaying organic material, sweets, glue and hair.
